Gariyoshi - Chandra Prasad Saikia short story competition awards presented

'Gariyoshi Chandra Prasad Saikia' short story contest awards are given today at Pandit Tirtha Nath Sharma hall, Guwahati. The competition is organised in the memory of late reknown writer and journalist , the winner of Sahitya Academy, former president of Assam Sahitya Sabha, Podmobhushan Chandra Prasad Saikia. He was the first editor of 'Goriyoshi'. Nisha Devi of Guwahati got the first prize for her story "Ainat Aditir Adin". The second prize went to Sumi Saikia of Morigaon for her story "Pretatma" and the third prize was begged by Suprakash Bhuyan of Dikhowmukh, Sivasagar for his tale "Kanchanjangharoahan". Kulendu Neoh of Biswanath Chariali got the consolation prize for " Ejon Sikshakar Marmogatha".


Distinguished guest and tha chairman of the Assam tribune group T G Boruah lauded the prize winners and encouraged them to keep up their writings. Noted writer and critic dr Gobinda Prasad Sharma, Jyoti Prasad Saikia editor of Dainik Asom were the chief guests of the function. Speaking on the occasion, literateur and editor of 'Goriyoshi' Lakhminandan Bora described that late saikia as a versatile and successful jouranlist and editor, who worked with many newspapers and periodicals of Assam. Speaking on the Asamese story writing trend, he said that the writers should strive to connect to the masses rather than emphasising on technique and styles.
