Escalating tension in Raha

An escalating tension keeps Raha on the boil after a local resident died in police firing when he along with thousands of people enforced a bandh on the National Highway No 37 demanding the proposed AIIMS in the area. Local residents in large number thronged the vital road forcing police and para military forces to sprang upon them in the morning.

A section of agitated people tried to attacked the convoy of MLA Piyush Hazarika on his way to the house of Mintu Deori, who was killed in Friday’s police firing.

Earlier, the local residents grilled a group of ministers who visited the bereaved family members of the deceased protester.
