Blackmailers held in Margherita

MARGHERITA: The Margherita Police on Saturday arrested four youths after the All Assam Schedule Caste Youth Federation Central Committee leaders tried to blackmail a local SBI employee.

Identified as Jayanto Das(38) Ripu Das(32),Bolendra Das(37) and Pabitra Das, they allegedly demanded ₹7 lakh from the bank employee charging him of possessing a fake caste certificate, an allegation which the banker denied.

The bank employee then lodged a formal complaint before the police who arrested the youths.

After interrogation by police a local court reminded them to judicial custody acting on the case has been registered at Margherita Police Station case Number 48/18 US 387.
