A painful news spread like wildfire in the entire area of Dhupguri in Udalguri district on Friday. Rajani Deka, an inhabitant of Dhupguri in Paneri passed away at 75 leaving a pall of gloom in the entire locality. As a fourth grade employee of Tangla Higher Secondary School, his role is small but his contribution is immense which is why, he would be remembered as a social worker in his area. His leadership quality made him the Vice–President of Nashanshali Koch Rajbanshi Sanmilan and a member of Uttar Mangaldai Anchalik Koch Sanmilan.

Deka was also involved in many other organizations in his area. He spared no pain to weed out superstition that has been crippling the socio cultural life of the are in the form of child-marriage, witchery and what not. Nashanshali Koch Rajbanshi Students Union condoled his untimely death. May his soul rest in peace.

Baby Elephant found dead in Udalguri

The mysterious death of an elephant calf casts no less spell of shadow in Udalguri on Monday. According to Ranjit Tanti, a wildlife activist, the calf, aged around 8, was found dead at a paddy field in Jorpukhuri village under Nonai forest range. A team of forest officials rushed to the spot after some villagers informed them about the dead calf and postmortem of the carcass was on the spot and buried. Gold cup clash on in Dimakuchi

Youth found dead

Body of one Bikash Munda (18), an Adivasi youth was recovered Monday morning in No.1 sonajuli area under Dimakuchi, Udalguri. Police recovered the body from his uncle’s house and further investigations are on.   It has been reported that Bikash Munda son of Rantu Munda had gone to sleep at his uncle’s house adjacent to Nengta Bodo’s house who have fled from their residence since morning. The mobile phone was found at Nengta Bodo’s residence. Injuries on the body were found. Police have taken the body for post mortem.

Elephant terror in Udalguri

A herd of wild elephants unleashed no less of terror in Borengajuli Tea Estate in Tangla killing a 35 year old man on Monday.  Identified as ArjunMunda, son of BirshaMunda was trampled to death early in the Sunday morning as he was collecting twigs.
