Minutes after he walked out of the jail on Monday, AKhil Gogoi vowed to take on BJP in the battle of ballots in 2021.
Addressing his fans outside the jail where he spent more than two months, the peasant leader said that the ruling party must be thrown out from Dispur.
According to the KMSS leader, “enough is enough. We must take on these political parties in the next polls to ensure our safety and security.”
Gogoi’s pledge drew huge applause from his fans who kept waiting from early in the morning in front of the jail to catch a glimpse of their leader whom the government arrested in connection with two cases two months back.
Towards the end of November, Gogoi procured the bail in the Kaziranga case where two people died in police firing for taking out a protest led by Gogoi opposing the eviction drive in Kaziranga.
But he was again arrested by Lakhimpur police in connection with an old case pending against him.
The Gauhati High Court on Saturday granted him bail to allow him to come out of the jail.
