Hawker strike illegal!

The hawker-agent impasse in Guwahati has knocked the doors of judiciary where trouble seems to have brewed for the hawkers.

Amid an attempt to end the impasse, the court on Friday called the strike an illegal under the Industrial Dispute Act which is why, the agents are set to recruit fresh hawkers from Saturday.

Notably, the hawkers have not been working in Guwahati for the last 5 days demanding hike in their commission amount from the existing 28 per cent to 35 per cent.
