Tinsukia DC takes action against errant officials

Tinsukia: The Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Dr P K Trivedi made a surprise visit to several offices falling within his jurisdiction and the result was that pay cuts were ordered for 84 employees in these offices for not coming to office on time. It may be mentioned that this is not the first time that Dr Trivedi is acting against errant officials. Previously 12 Doctors and 27 servicemen had also met the same fate. Our correspondent adds that the people of Tinsukia are supporting his actions

One can't but support the action taken by the DC. But he needs to be consistent in his surprise visit to various State Govt. Offices. What about paying a discreet visit by posing as a hapless motor vehicle owner to the notorious Tinsukia DTO Office. Another office where nothing moves without greasing the palm of officials is SDC, Sub-Registrar Office. He needs to pull-up the authorities manning this office as employees are running a virtual bribery cartel in this offices. But then if he starts taking action enmasse, there will be hardly any official left in the state govt. offices across the district as most of them are neck dip in corruption, more or less. What about the Police Stations and Traffic Police itself accepting bribes from hapless truck drivers and motorists on the flimsy ground. But any way Dr. Trivedi made a good beginning. Keep it up. National poets’ meet held at Bokakhat

Under the aegis of the Sahitya Akademi, JDSG College, Bokakhat, held a one-day National Poets' Meet on November 26 where 23 poets writing in different languages from all over India took part. Adil, Angelika lift tennis title

Adil Hakim of Australia (in picture) won the boys singles title in the Indian Oil ITF World Junior Ranking Tennis championship at the Chachal Tennis complex on Friday. In the final Hakim beat Lewicki Filip of Poland in straight set 6-4,6-1.In the girls section the final was also an one sided affair and Angelika Aliev of Israel won the title clash defeating Sevil Alieva of Azarbaijan in straight set 6-4,6-2.Meanwhile Poland pair Stefaniak Piotr and Majchrowicz Adam emerged champion in the boys doubles event while Starkova Valentina (Kaz) and Alieva Sevil (Aza) won the girls title.

Kaushik's dream run end in semis

A dream run in the Indian Oil ITF World Junior Ranking Tennis Championship finally came to an end for Kaushik Das as he today lost the boys singles semi final against Lewicki Filip of Poland at the Chachal tennis court on Thursday. The Assam lad was in his best form in the tournament and even in the semi final too he played superbly but Filip finally managed to over come the challenge of Das. Citizens demand round-table meet

The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) courier service has been performing quite inconsistently, according to the consumers utilizing its service. Violin Recital at Celebrate Bandra Festival, Mumbai

Violinist Sunita Bhuyan performed at the Hindustani music evening of Celebrate Bandra on 24th of November at the Carter Road Promenade, Mumbai. Sunita performed to a packed audience starting with Raag Hangswasdhani followed by Bharat Darshan in Raag Mishra Desh.
