Cancellation of five crucial votes stymied the poll prospect of Opposition candidate Haidor Hussain. These mistakes, mostly, are allegedly intentional.
BJP legislator Prasanta Phukan’s vote stood cancelled the moments after he displayed his ballot paper to all the party agents and observers after casting his vote. BJP sources called it unintentional.
But AGP would hardly excuse Padma Hazarika for giving a tick mark in the ballot paper ignoring the laid down instructions available in the guidelines. Party leaders called it an inexcusable error.
AIUDF MLA Gopinath Das signed the ballot paper forcing the authorities to cancel it at the eleventh hour.
TMC MLA Dwipen Pathok also voted in the wrong place which was why, it was cancelled. Other cancelled votes was casted in favour of the Opposition consensus candidate Haidor Hussain who had to remain satisfied with only 26 votes.
