Bhupen Hazarika's vast unveiled at Raha

A statue of Assam's cultural icon Dr.Bhupen Hazarika was unveiled today by Sudhakantha's sister in law Manisha Hazarika in a programme held at Kamarjan village at Raha today. The statue which cost nearly Rs. 1,50,000 was established by one Pradip Bordoloi , a Bhupen Hazarika lover of the said village.

Taking part in the programme , in her brief speech , Manisha Hazarika thanked Pradip Bordoloi and the gathering for their love for sudhakantha and said, '' It is for the first time that an individual in Assam has established this statue at his own cost and initiative.I am overwhelmed by this act of generosity of Pradip Bordoloi and it reveals that Hazarika's life and works impressed all sections of people in Assam.'' The pragramme was also attended by Assamese cine actor Guna Mahanta.

Raha, Nagaon: Assam State Transport Corporation(ASTC) bus service from Kampur to Nagaon via Kampur-Raha route was flagged off on August 30 by the divisional superintendent, Apurba Barkakati of ASTC amidst cheers of the local citizens.
