With much fanfare and cultural extravaganza, the Asom Sahitya Sabha began its special session in Guwahati on Saturday.
Sabha president Imran Shah hoisted the Sabha flag at a brief function at the Sahityarathi Laxminath Bezbaruah Khetra in Khanapara in the morning.
This was followed by the inauguration of the Mamoni Roisom Goswami Memorial Book Festival and the exhibition.
Sahitya Sabha officials told Assam Times that they chief minister Tarun Gogoi is scheduled to attended the session where they would mount pressure on him to implement the Official Language Act at the earliest.
