Bordoloi for AIUDF-Cong pact

Amid stepped up activities for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Congress MLA from Guwhati Robin Bordoloi has urged the party high command to reach a poll pact with AIUDF.

The former minister called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday and said that the alliance would help the party woo the minority voters.

Gandhi is believed to have listened Bordoloi carefully. But did not divulge anything. This is his second meeting with Gandhi during the last two months. Sources told Assam Times that the state Congress leaders are divided over the alliance with AIUDF. But Chief minister Tarun Gogoi is averse to any tie up with AIUDF while another circle of leaders including APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita has been interested in this alliance.
