Electronic Media Forum Assam has decided to organize EMFA Media Awards 2012 & 2013 in the first half of April 2014. In a meeting held at Guwahati Press Club on Thursday, the EMFA also called for the entries to the annual awards for the year 2013.
The entries either in CD or DVD format, which must be telecast through satellite channels during the period of 1st January to 31st December 2013, should be deposited at EMFA office desk (c/o Guwahati Press Club, Guwahati-781001) by 10 February next.
In another decision, the meeting has resolved to allow the non-news channels of Assam (like Rang, Ramdhenu, NE HiFi and Rengoni) to participate in the awards ceremony. For the programs telecast between 1st January and 31st December 2013 through these channels can be sent as entries for the EMFA Awards 2013 on or before 10 February 2014. The complete list for the EMFA Awards 2012 has already been finalized. The award function for the year 2012 was not organized due to some unavoidable reasons.

The Delhi government has agreed to set up a statute of Chaolung Sukapha in the national capital. The assurance came from Delhi Chief minister Sheila Dixit who talked to her Assam counterpart Tarun Gogoi. Before that Gogoi in a letter requested Dixit to consider the proposal to set up the first Ahom king in the national capital. Local residents in Goalpara district beat him a suspected militant to death on Saturday night. A series of low intensity blasts has forced the security forces to fan in lower Assam on Sunday. Suspected ULFA militants on Saturday night set off eight IED blasts in a space of 90 minutes targeting the house of an AIDUF MLA and crowded markets in Goalpara and Dhubri districts. There, is, however, no report of casualty.ULFA, along with some other insurgents group, gave a call for boycotting the Republic Day celebrations. Over 20 people have been injured when a passenger bus slipped into deep gorge in near Guwahati on Saturday.The accident took place at around 2-30 in the afternoon when the passenger bus was on its way to Kamakhya and suddenly it lost control and fell on a gorge where several people were rescued by police and local residents.
