CRI's golden jubilee event from Nov 6


The Conference of Religious India (CRI) is holding 4-day celebrations of its golden jubilee from 6-9 November, 2013 at the Don Bosco Campus, Guwahati. The programme will start at Don Bosco Institute Kharguli and conclude at Don Bosco School Pan Bazar with a public event presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio to India.

So

me 500 Major Superiors from across the country, representing 1.25 lakh priests, sisters and brothers are expected to participate at the study cum celebrations marking 50 golden years of Heroism, Hope and Humble service.

“During the study days the Major superiors will reflect together on the meaning and priorities of Religious Life, the challenges it faces today, research findings on our situation, the role of women in Church Leadership and listen to critical appreciation from well-informed laity and leaders of other faiths,” says CRI national president and host, Salesian provincial of Guwahati Fr V.M. Thomas.

Among the experienced, competent and credible speakers are Bro. Philip Pinto CFC (Superior General of Christian Brothers), Archbishop emeritus Thomas Menamparampil SDB of Guwahati, Sr. Mary Sujita SND (former Superior General, Sisters of Notre Dame), Fr. Stanislaus Swamikannu SDB (former Provincial of Chennai), Fr. Hector D’Souza SJ (former Provincial of South Asia), Mrs. Raynah Passanha Braganza (Director, Women’s Desk Pune Diocese), Padamshree Patricia Mukhim (Editor, The Shillong Times), Mr. Debasish Sharma (Director of NGO Deepshikha), Swami Agnivesh, Fr. Paul Parathazham SDB, professor at JDV Pune, CRI National Secretary Fr. Joe Mannath SDB and Fr. Thomas Vattathara SDB, Salesian Provincial, Guwahati.

The celebrations will culminate with a solemn Eucharistic celebration, Saturday 9 November, presided over by Archbishop Salvatore Pennachio, Apostolic Nuncio to India followed by a public function with public figures and religious of the region.

Five Books are scheduled to be released during the event: 1) Thus Spoke CRI – 50 years of Search and Find, 2) Innovation in Religious Life – Acts of the 2012 National Assembly, 3) A Radical Love, a Path of Light – The Beauty and Burden of Religious Life by Joe Mannath SDB and 4) A Coffee Table Book on all the Religious orders working in India with texts and photos, and 5) Contemplatives in Action, another coffee table book featuring the contribution of religious to northeast India.

On Sunday November 10, the delegates will have a trip to Shillong to take part in the famous Eucharistic procession.
