Finally the things in the Congress legislature body seem to have dramatically changed. Crippling dissidence against chief minister Tarun Gogoi is over if Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma is to be believed. Addressing a press conference jointly with Rockybul Hussain after the end of the CLP meeting, Dr Sarma who led the dissidents said the the difference has been sorted out. He disclosed that never did he campaigned to dethorn Gogoi. Both the ministers said that the CLP meet resolved to unitedly fight to show outstanding performance in the upcoming general polls. The meeting attended by APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita set up a 5 member panel to address the concern of the MLAs and ministers who openly criticised a circle of ministers. Towards the end of the meeting Gogoi left for the airport taking Dr Sarma and Hussain in his car.
The TMC Assam unit has opposed the draft delimitation proposal published by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday evening. The proposal is prepared based on the 2001 census, which the TMC claims is not correct as there has been a change in the population pattern in the state. Assam TMC chief Ripun Bora has alleged that the ECI is following the dictates of the BJP party and that the delimitation process on such short notice reflects the assurance of electoral gains through voter division. Bora also stated that the delimitation cannot be accepted without the completion of proper NRC and that TMC has been demanding delimitation on the latest census. The TMC has rejected the draft...
