Fake ULFA held at Nazira

Nazira police arrested 3 persons namely Manasjyoti Gogoi, Niranjan Gogoi of Nazira and Depan Gogoi of Simaluguri for demanding money on last August 22 and recovered several mobile phones from them. According to the police, the three persons were involved in demanding money in the name of ULFA from various persons of Guwahati, Duliajan, Tinsukia, Digboy, Amguri etc. A police team lead by the SDPO Nazira Ashif Ahmed and OC Nazira Sanjiv Gogoi arrested them. A case is registered in Nazira police station under IPC 387.

Congress party is gearing up for the upcoming poll in Nazira slated for April 4. Party candidate and sitting MLA Debabrate Saikia met  party workers and asked them to work hard in grassroot level. A party workers meeting was held on Wednesday at Saikia's residence. 
Alleging about the neglect and deprivation faced  by the Ahom community of Nazira constituency the Members of the All Assam Tai Ahom burnt effigies of BJP state president Sarbananda Sonowal and MP  Kamakhya Prashad Tasa in front of the Nazira BJP office.  They raised slogans against the party and held that due to a conspiracy between Sonowal and Tasa the Ahom community of Nazira remains depraved. A two-days-long 15th annual conference of the Sivasagar district All Assam Students Union (AASU) was held at Maut Gaon, Simaluguri on on January 4-5. The new executive committee  was formed in this conferance with Samiron Phukon became the general secretary and Ashim Dutta as the new president. Members of Nazira Anchalik AASU Unit walked out from the repeesentatives meetings due to the internal disputes.
Abhijit Dulakhakhoria (30) of Namti Dupdor gaon died in a bike accident at 9 AM on Thursday in the main road of Nazira town, when he was trying to cross the road. The other rider Nipul Gogoi (26) was also seriously injured and reffered to the Assam Medical College Hospital of Dibrugarh. 
Nazira Press Club observed the National Press Day at its office on Monday. Senior journalist and writer Durllav Buragohain, Bulu Chetia and ADC Dhiren Hazarika were present in the function.
