Vegetables sale counters opened in Guwahati

Under the initiative of Nawab Imdad Ali Ahmed, District Nodal Officer (Horticulture), Kamrup , 10 nos. of Vegetables Sale Counter are opened at Dhakhin Sarania, Beltola Bazar Tinilali, Kerakuchi-Bakrapara, Lalmati Popular Market , Patarkuchi, Ganeshguri- Hengerabari Road, Chandmari, Borbari-Hengerabari, Noonmati Salbari and Zoo-Bye Lane under National Vegetables Initiative for Urban Cluster (NVIUC), a scheme implemented by the Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam. Moreover, 8 nos. of Mobile Vegetables Sale Counter are operating in different places of Guwahati city. Vegetables growers and Byers are mutually benefited from this initiative.

A total of 80 patients were seen in a free cancer detection camp held at Sanjevani Hospital in which 20% was found to have pre cancerous lesions and two patients was detected cancer in the oral cavity. The camp was held recently in the Department of E..N.T. headed by senior consultant Dr. Bhaben Choudhury. Dr. Choudhury said that the incidence of cancer in oral cavity in Assam increased due to consumption of various forms of tobacco.
