Summer art workshop

A three day long summer art workshop was organised by a leading art school, Chitrangkon Academy at Dudhnoi during  July 15-17, attended by nearly 80 students. Several artists from Goalpara district were resource persons in the programme covering various aspects of fine art. The programme was first of its kind in Dudhnoi and students are asking for more such programmes in future.

Annual available surface water potential of the region (Brahmaputra-Barak basin) is 585.60 km3, which is 31.33% of the national potential. Krishi Vigyan Kendra Goalpara conduct Field Day

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Goalpara has conducted a Field Day on "Use of Adjustable Row Marker in Tomato Cultivation" at Lela, Goalpara on 24/06/2011. The programme was organised as a part of Front Line Demonstration (FLD), in which nearly fifty farmers have actively participated. The FLD was undertaken for popularizing mechanization in row marking for vegetable cultivation. All the officials of KVK Goalpara attended the programme and DDM, NABARD also attended as a guest.

Efficient water use in Rice Production

Rice is the staple food in the North East Region. Cultivation of rice in the region is mostly rainfed though irrigation also prevails. Increase in food grain production is required to meet demands of increasing population. Water Management in North East India

One of the common features of developing countries in the South East Asia is flash flood in urban areas during rainy season and acute shortage of water for domestic and agricultural uses during winter. Rural areas are situated usually at upstream receives adequate rain, with no facilities to conserve the water for winter. North-East India receives high rainfall of an average of 2000 mm a year with a maximum of 11000 mm in Cherrapunjee.
