Flood situation turns grim as surging waters engulfed 30 more villages
in Bongaingaon district. Over 60 houses have been washed in Morigaon
rendering scores of people homeless. The river Bramhaputra is still
flowing above the danger level. Massive erosion also took place in
Bhuragaon and Mayong revenue circles of the district. Over 100
villages in Dhemaji, Chirang, Jorhat, Lakhimpur and Sivasagar
districts were under flood.
Guwahati: WWF-India Assam State Office marked the International Day for Biological Diversity on 22nd May with an engaging awareness program held at the Aquaculture and Biodiversity Centre, supported by the Zoology Department of Gauhati University.
