Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. Five persons of a family were killed at a tragic rad mishap in Dergaon sending shockwaves across the state on Wednesday.It took place at Balijan on the National Highway No 37 when a vehicle carrying five women and kid rammed into a tree at around 12 in the afternoon.Four women and the kid were killed on the spot. The government is clearing the decks to strictly enforce the law after the legislation received ascent from the Governor.Days are not far when the government will bring yet another legislation to ban smoking tobacco to deal with the impending health hazard in the state.
