Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. On his second and last day of visit to Assam, Rahul Gandhi is holding two road shows in Nagaon and Tezpur on Wednesday. The Congress vice president is scheduled to land in Nagaon Nehrubali at 11-30 in the morning. He will visit an unique hamlet set up to showcase the various ethnic culture and lifestyles. After holding the road show, he will leave for Tezpur to hold another function at 2 in the afternoon.

The identity of the KMSS activist who died after self immolation attempt in Dispur on Monday mires in mystery and confusion.Till Tuesday, he was identified as Pramode Boro, a resident of Gorchuk and his wife claimed to have two daughters.But the scene has changed dramatically. A family of Bhuragaon in Udalguri district claims that the person in the storm of shock is Tuwaram Sarania who has been missing since 2009.They identified the lifeless KMSS activist on looking at the passport size photograph beamed in the various satellite news channels.
