The entire populace of Dima Hasao irrespective of caste, creed and religion have demanded immediate release of Mohet Hojai, the then Chief Executive Member and  Sri Golon Daolagupu, Member of  the then North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council on bail otherwise the people would be compelled to launch vigorous agitations soon.

Hojai was arrested on May 29th of 2009 allegedly for providing 1 crore to the former DHD(J) while Golon Daolagupu was arrested following the recovery of several lakhs of rupees from one Jighanshu Paul traveling in his vehicle. Sri Hojai has been languishing in jail for more than four years while Daolagupu is in jail for more than three years.

On Tuesday, a well attended meeting was held at the office of the Jadikhe Naisho Hosom, (JNH) with Sri Kalyan Daolagupu, President, JNH in the chair, wherein representatives from almost all the social and students organizations were present.

All the speakers termed the delay in the release of these public leaders as injustice since others leaders of militant organizations have been released.

Meanwhile the meeting unanimously resolved to organize sit-in-demonstration at last gate, Dispur on July 15 to register the demand of immediate release of Hojai and Sri Golon Daolagupu.

Suraj Naiding, President, Hills State Democratic Party talking to this correspondent said it was surprising that Sri Mohet Hojai and Sri Golon Daolagupu have been languishing in jail for years together despite the fact that ever several militant have been released. Whatever might be the provision of the rules of the land in the country, confinement of Hojai and Sri Daolagupu in the jail for a long time amounts to the fact that Government has meted out a step-motherly treatment toward the people of Dima Hasao. They were politically victimized. He further said Justice delayed justice denied.
