Training on Social Change for Youth
A Leadership Training Programme for youths, organised by Foundation for Social Transformation- enabling North East India, was successfully held on 20th and 21st May, at Bosco Reach Out in Guwahati. The training was attended by 50 youths, who received training from distinguished mentors. The training modules included the Youth, social action & change, gender, feminism & masculinity, communalism, religion & conflict, sexuality, sexual rights & violence, democracy, politics & governance, globalisation & natural resources management & disability rights. The leadership training programme was meant for young change makers of the region. The training programme focused on many social issues which affect the lives of young people and also the society. Successful participants will get further chance to do community and civic projects with mentoring from several experts.
“Young people have tremendous energy and willingness to learn , if given a right direction they can foster enormous positive change in the society, they just need to get unbiased guidance”, said Gayatri Buragohain , Executive Director of FST. FST shall organise more training programme for young change makers’ different parts of the region, this was stated in a press release issued by FST.

The Bodo medium was introduced on 18th May 1963 in Assam. It was in 1976 the Bodo medium Students were lucky to appear for the Secondary Examination. A good number of students have passed out since then. Many intellectuals and people working in different fields have also studied in Bodo medium. There are about 20 lakhs Bodo population in Assam of which 4 lakh are students in Bodo medium studying in lower primary, upper primary and high schools in Bodo medium. There are only 27 Bodo medium provincialised high schools in Assam which do have sufficient teachers and no infrastructure for the students. As a part of the ongoing programme to unite young people against climate change, Youth Alliance for Climate (YAC) is organising youth summit in Guwahati and Gangtok on 17, 18 and 20th May. . In a bid to generate awareness on climate change young people from different parts of northeast came together to form Youth Alliance for Climate in 2008. It was a youth programme conducted by Indo Global Social Service Society as a part of their SMILE programme. The participants of that programme decided to form a network as the discussion of the youth programme was on climate change. YAC organises programme in different parts of North East. Most of the programmes are with the young people of the region which includes school students, college students and other young people.
