Trilingual film on Bhupen Hazarika
Dhumuha - the storm will bring alive our very own Bhupen Hazarika alive very soon. Kalpana Lajmi, Bhupenda’s long time companion and Bollywood filmmaker Pooja Bhatt have come forward to depict the turbulent life of the musical maestro in a feature film to be made in three languages – Hindi, Assamese and Bengali with English sub titles.
The shooting for the bio-epic to be directed by Lajmi will start from January 31 in 2014. “The film will depict the life and works of Bhupen Hazarika. It will also showcase the ups and downs of his life besides the love life and his dedication towards music,” said Pooja Bhatt who will produce the film during her visit to Guwahati.
She also said that the film will not be a documentary like but for the mass viewers across the globe.
Kalpana Lajmi who has played a major role in the life of the musical genius said that it is way of paying tribute to the man who ruled the heart of thousands for decades. “I hope I would be able to do justice to his huge personality through this film,” Lajmi said. Bhupen Hazarika’s original songs will be used in the film. The film will be shot in Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Kolkata and some parts in Mumbai.
At present, veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Lazmi are working on the initial stage of the film. The casting will be done according to the demands of the roles with actors from Bollywood, Assamese and Bengali film industry, said Bhatt.
