The Karbi people under the banner of the Joint Action Committee thronged the Diphu railway station at 5-30 in the morning alleging that the amendment move would deprive them of the rights they have been enjoying for decades. They sent a fax memorandum to prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh to ensure their right. This has forced several trains to remain stranded in Dimapur for several hours on Monday morning.
