FIS Foundation Stone laid

Debojeet Thaosen, Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council laid the foundation stone of Flow Irrigation Scheme on Sunday at Tongi in Dima Hasao under the North N.C Hills Division (Irrigation), Maibang in the presence of the Executive Member i/c Irrigation Samuel Changsan. Tongi which lies near the border area of the district is one area where the new irrigation schemes will be implemented out of the sanctioned 30 Nos. Minor Irrigation Schemes in Dima Hasao District under Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme [AIBP] for the year 2012-13 by the Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India,New Delhi.

A meeting was also held where the CEM urged the people to work hard and cooperate with the authorities of Block level Officers for speedy development of the area as well as the district.

It needs to be mentioned that Shri. Debojeet Thaosen is one of the first CEM of the district who had paid a visit for the cause of upliftment of the area. The programme was also attended by BDO Shri. Projeet Naiding, Senior Citizens,Gaon Buras, Officials and by many locals.

In the Irrigation Department under the North N.C. Hills Division (Irri.), Maibang, 29 (twenty nine ) no's of New Surface M.I. Schemes and one no of New Lift Irrigation schemes (US) under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP) have been sanctioned by the Ministry of Water Resources, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The total estimated cost for the 30 New M.I. Schemes is for Rs.129.6650 Crores. These Schemes will be implemented from the current financial (i.e.  2012-2013)  to  2014-2015.  On successful completion of the Schemes the total Potential will be created for 8,855 Hectors. These new schemes will provide optimum benefit's to the stake holder, since, the Tribal (Hills) farmer's are very interested to avail the scope of the scientific method of Irrigation. They were traditionally accustomed to the Jhum cultivation, now gradually, they are diverting their attention to the multi crop cultivation system because of the availability of the Irrigation facility. There are sufficient scopes for surface M.I schemes in the District of Dima Hasao for which the required cultivable command area are available and the same is yet to be brought under the umbrella of Irrigation System. Further, the fertility of the soil of Dima Hasao is found too well, resulting the maximum production in the field of Agriculture and it is the only source of income of the inhabitant of the villages belonging to the command area of the schemes. If the welfare Gov1 programme can implement properly as per the schedule of the calendar of project proposal certainly, the Irrigation sector may create a green revolution in the District of Dima Hasao. ft present the magnitude of the environment of the Dima Hasao is far better and improving, a well as, the way the   Dima Hasao Autonomous Council is providing their support to the Developmental activities with their dynamic vision and mission for the welfare of the community people, the future of the District is presumed to be very bright and prosperous particularly in the field of Irrigation.
