Milād-un-Nabi in Nazira

The birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is considered the most significant event in the history of the world. Though his birthday was never observed by his companions and the second and third generations of Muslims after him who are considered exemplary, some Muslim sects towards the end of the 11th century took to celebrate it as Milād-un-Nabi. The Prophet never celebrated his birthday nor commanded it nor observed those of his family members' or that of his grand childrens'.

At Nazira in Assam, Milād-un-Nabi was observed at the Nazira M.C. Club from February 16th to 17th with great enthusiasm and fervor. Naziran's chose to assemble for the ocassion this month due to paucity of time. The two-day long programme under the chairmanship of Syed Mubidul Islam was attended by Pradip Kumar Das, Dr.Nirupama Mahanta, Saidul Islam and Debobrat Saikia who spoke about the nobility and message of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The event gathered large crowds to the narrations of the different aspects of the Prophet's life.

Milād-un-Nabi is ironically observed in the third month of the Islamic calendar. This year it coincided with January 24th with variants to the Shiites who celebrate it on January 29th.

Gas leaks at Gelakey

Nazira ready for poll

Congress gears up at Nazira

Sarba's effigy burnt

Alleging about the neglect and deprivation faced  by the Ahom community of Nazira constituency the Members of the All Assam Tai Ahom burnt effigies of BJP state president Sarbananda Sonowal and MP  Kamakhya Prashad Tasa in front of the Nazira BJP office.  They raised slogans against the party and held that due to a conspiracy between Sonowal and Tasa the Ahom community of Nazira remains depraved. Despite having the majority number of voters, candidates of Ahom descent never chanced to contest from Nazira constituency they added.

Freedom Fighters Rest House 'Bapuji Bhavan' was innugurated by the former minister Dr Hemoprova Saikia  at Nazira on Wednesday.

Nazira got welcome gate

Welcome gate to the historic Nazira Sub divison as been constructed and inaugurated at a public meeting on Friday. The gate was constructed with MLA development fund of Nazira  at a total cost of around  51 Lakhs.  

Chilarai Divas observed at Nazira

The Nazira District Konch Rajbanshi Sonmiloni observed the 506th Mahavir Chilarai Divas  with a day long programme at Nazira on February 22. On this occation a drawing competition was organised among the school  students.  In afternoon a public meeting was held under the presidentshp of  Moneshwar Dutta, where President of the  AASU Sivasagar district unit  Ashim Dutta, AGP Leader Tulsi Gogoi etc. were present alongwith other dignatories.

In the memory of the Cultural icon of Assam Rupkunwar Jyotiprashad Agarwala, the  Nazira Anchalik Sahitya Xobha observed Shilpi Divas with a day long programme at Nazira on Sunday. On this occasion competitions and a seminer was organised.

Children protection meeting at Simaluguri

A meeting on child protection was held at at Kenduri LP School, Simaluguri on Saturday. Social worker Manika Saikia, child protection officer of Sivasagar district Dibya Deori, SDPO of Nazira Rajendra Uzza, president of Nazira Mahkuma Mahila Spmmittee Dibyajyoti Gohain, Secretary of the NGO PRAGATI  Nirjumoni gogoi, Secretary of the freelance journalist association of Nazira Dilip Hazarika took part in the programme. The programme was organised under the "Mukhya mamtrir Sunali Soishab Prakalpa - Surokhayat sishu, surokhayata Axom yojona" by Nazira Mohkuma Mahila Sommittee and the Pragati.

Sivasagar district AASU annual conference

A two-days-long 15th annual conference of the Sivasagar district All Assam Students Union (AASU) was held at Maut Gaon, Simaluguri on on January 4-5. The new executive committee  was formed in this conferance with Samiron Phukon became the general secretary and Ashim Dutta as the new president. Members of Nazira Anchalik AASU Unit walked out from the repeesentatives meetings due to the internal disputes.
