Amid decry of the recent cases of violence against women and frequent harassment in the public transport, some Guwahati based organisations raise demand for women-only city bus service in Guwahati. A woman government official, speaking to this reporter, said she has to come across misdemenour from male passenger in the citi-bus often.'This is humaliting for any woman', she said. Amrita Pathak Hazarika, North East Network, a city based non-governmental organisation, upholding the demand said the government should consider the issue seriously. She has also raised demand for street-lights in every nook-corner of the city arguing that lack of illumination ignites criminal elements.
