Mothers meet at Pasighat

A day long MATRI SAMMELAN (Mothers Meet) was held recently on 25th November 2012 at Donyi Polo Vidya Niketan School campus, Pasighat, under the aegis of Arunachal Shiksha Vikas Samiti (ASVS) the state chapter of Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan, New Delhi. The day long Sammelan was proposed for the awakening of women in every sectors of life. Around 350 delegates (mothers) from in and around the town attended the unique programme which infact is a routine function that is observed every year by the organization (ASVS).


Hosts of dignitaries, which included among others, were Ms. Nidhi Srivastava (IAS), Additional Deputy Commissioner East Siang, Dr.Yater darang, Eye Specialist PHC, Ruksin, Smt. Binita Mishra and Smt. Lilavati Kushraji, Organising Secretary, Rashtra Sevika Samiti graced the occasion.



The visiting dignitaries gave their valuable and thoughts provoking speeches in the women empowerment-importance of their roles and responsibilities in the society on the topics - Significance of women’s education, role of women in family as well as in the society, role of women in preservation of Indian tradition and cultural heritage, the role of women as a mother etc.


The message for the celebration of the MATRI SAMMELAN this year is that “destiny of children lies in healthy and good mothers” To make the programme more colorful some entertaining programmes like quiz competition, tongue twister, identitical touch and basket ball for the women also conducted.

Magh bihu meji burning bright

Brahma taking over as CEC

SC shows options to end border row

Supreme Court on Wednesday talked of two options before the government to end the decade old Assam-Nagaland border row. Taking up a petition in the apex court, a division bench headed by Justice TS Thakur said the dispute could be resolved either by deciding the 1988 law suit filed by Assam or by referring the matter for arbitration.The court further asked the Assam counsel to file the list of its witnesses along with their testimonies in the form of affidavits with the apex court registrar within three months.
