A new Anchalik AASU Committe of Nazira was formed in a general meeting on November Sunday. Hemanto Saikia and Sakir Ahmed were selected as the president and secretary of the committee. Manik Gogoi, president of the AASU, Sivasagar district and Manab Hazarika were also present in the meeting as observers.

Alleging about the neglect and deprivation faced by the Ahom community of Nazira constituency the Members of the All Assam Tai Ahom burnt effigies of BJP state president Sarbananda Sonowal and MP Kamakhya Prashad Tasa in front of the Nazira BJP office. They raised slogans against the party and held that due to a conspiracy between Sonowal and Tasa the Ahom community of Nazira remains depraved. Abhijit Dulakhakhoria (30) of Namti Dupdor gaon died in a bike accident at 9 AM on Thursday in the main road of Nazira town, when he was trying to cross the road. The other rider Nipul Gogoi (26) was also seriously injured and reffered to the Assam Medical College Hospital of Dibrugarh.
