ASDC flayed the Assam Government

The Autonomous State Demand Committee(ASDC) Dima Hasao District Committee flayed the Assam Government for its failure to prevent the extortion of money as 'house tax' from the villagers living in the bordering areas of Dima Hasao district of Assam state with Nagaland state by the extremists of outside Assam state through terrorism, stated a press release issued by Sri Nigendra Naiding, Publicity Secretary, ASDC Dima Hasao District Committee, Haflong.

The most terrorism-affected villages are Prasadimdik, Koladisa, Tingbum, Sonapur, Bongkai, Daoblibdisa, Tongikro, Kepre-I, Kepre-II, Kaotaibari-I, Kaotaibari-II, Langaokro, Mungjang, Nevang, Lumjang, Solpidung, Semkhor, Daoreb Haja and Dima Hajong and the so-called 'house tax' has already been collected in some of these villages by the extremists. Memorandum in this regard was already submitted to the Assam Government through the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao district on 21-06-2012 by ASDC Dima Hasao District Committee, apprising the Government of the details of the prevailing law and order situation so as to provide the security to the villagers of those bordering areas and to set up the BOPs (Border Outposts) there immediately for the sake of protecting territorial integrity of Assam.

But it is a matter of great concern that the Govt has not sincerely taken action so far as it should be in this issue, thereby enabling the extremists to resort to such terrorism and extortion of money in the bordering areas. The ASDC Dima Hasao District Committee feel that Govt has turned a blind eye even to the vital problems such as that of the territorial integrity of Assam state in which Dima Hasao district is concerned and therefore demand that the 'law and order department' particularly in Dima Hasao district be handed over to Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) so as to make a better coordination between the Central Government and State Government and the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) in the affairs of law and order in this hilly district of Assam state.
