Dharna at Haflong

Demanding immediate establishment of Border out Post (BOPs) in the eastern border area of Dima Hasao district, the people of these bordering area led by Central Committee Jadikhe Naisho Hosom (JNH) Dimasa Apex body, and Wajao Block Committee staged Sit-in-Demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner's Office on Friday from 10 am to 3 pm at Haflong.


Hundreds of people living in Assam- Nagaland border areas like Bonkhai, Koladisa, Pedik etc in Dima Hasao district took part in “Dharna” demanding deployment of security forces at Khepre and Border Out post at Bonkhai, Pedik and Koladisa to check encroachment of state boundary.


They disclosed that the people from other state always disturb all these people living in the area. Some time the people from neighboring state steal away their buffaloes. Even the armed militants from Nagaland also collect tax from these people. It has become serious concern for the people of Dima Hasao to check intrusion and encroachment by the outsiders.


Later they submitted a memorandum to the Shri Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister, Assam, through the Deputy Commissioner, Shri Dilip Borthakur detailing their grievances and requested to do the needful.

To provide specialised medical assistance to the villagers of remote villages of Dima Hasao, a Medical Camp was organized under the aegis of Haflong based Assam Rifles Battalion at Chhota Wapu village on Wednesday.The local population from remote villages in and around Chhota Wapu and Gunjong area of Dima Hasao district availed the facility of free medical treatment. Hundreds of passengers traveling by the Up Agartala Express from Agartala to Lumding were stranded for several hours at Jatinga Railway Station in Dima Hasao following derailment of two bogies of the said train at about 5 am of Saturday. One Arjun Chowdhury aged 30 was seriously injured, when a group comprising six persons armed with ‘daw’ knife and stick entered the compartment No NFGS 2470 just next to the escort compartment of Down Agartala Express in the midnight of Wednesday to loot the passenger of the train near Migrengdisa Railway station.
