Blood donation by OBA SSG
To commemorate Independence Day Old Boys Association of Sainik School Goalpara (OBA SSG) organised a blood donation camp at the premises of Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute on 15th August. The programme was inaugurated by Dr A C Kataki, Director of BBCI and the meeting was presided by Wing Commander (Rtd) Monoj Bora , working president of OBA SSG. Dr Rajjyoti Das of BBCI and also a member of OBA SSG stated the objectives of the programme in the inaugural function. In his speech Dr Kataki mentioned that civil society must take up steps and initiatives to make campuses and in and around areas free from tobacco to prevent diseases like cancer. He was praising OBA SSG as they have been organising the blood donation for last 4 years in the BBCI premises which have helped people in need. He has also appealed the civil society organisation and organisation like OBA SSG to initiative programme in early detection of cancer in the region which shall help many people. It is to be mentioned that OBA SSG has been doing programme like blood donation, free health check up camps in different parts of the sate by its members. There are branches of OBA SSG in different parts of the country which are engaged in different social service works. OBA SSG shall organise more of social service programmes like free health check up camps in coming years which has been mentioned by Diganta Gogoi, General Secretary of OBA SSG.

Old Boys Association of Sainik School Goalpara (OBA SSG) is organising a blood donation camp on the occasion of Independence Day to commemorate the occasion. The blood donation camp would be held at Dr B Borooah Cancer institute in Guwahati on 15th August. OBA SSG has been organising similar blood donation camp for more than 4 years in places on the occasion of Independence day as a part of extending support to needy people in the society. The Bodo medium was introduced on 18th May 1963 in Assam. It was in 1976 the Bodo medium Students were lucky to appear for the Secondary Examination. A good number of students have passed out since then. Many intellectuals and people working in different fields have also studied in Bodo medium. There are about 20 lakhs Bodo population in Assam of which 4 lakh are students in Bodo medium studying in lower primary, upper primary and high schools in Bodo medium. In a bid to generate awareness on climate change young people from different parts of northeast came together to form Youth Alliance for Climate in 2008. It was a youth programme conducted by Indo Global Social Service Society as a part of their SMILE programme. The participants of that programme decided to form a network as the discussion of the youth programme was on climate change. YAC organises programme in different parts of North East.
