AASU warns govt on rehabilitation

All Assam Students Union has warned the government not to allow the immigrants to settle in the name of rehabilitation package. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Sunday, the AASU leaders said that they would keep a close vigil on the rehabilitation works to ensure that not even a single immigrant is allowed to get the benefit.

A powerful grenade was defused on Tuesday morning at Geetanagar area in the city of Guwahati 12 hours after an encounter between police and ULFA where a rebel was shot dead.According to information, the policemen on duty found a grenade besiude the Kanya Mahavidyalaya at around 11.30 on Tuesday morning which was later defused at a safe place at around 11-30. A day after a powerful explosion rocked the north eastern city of Guwahati, the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has alleged that Assam DGP G M Srivastava and IGP Khagen Sarma have been stagemanaging these explosion to blame it all on the rebel outfit.
