Kaushik in ITF tennis semis

Displaying a spectacular performance yet again, Assam lad Kaushik Das reached the semi-finals in the boys’ section of the Indian Oil ITF World Junior Ranking Tennis Championship held at Chachal Tennis Complex on Wednesday. In the last-eight match, Kaushik defeated eight-seeded Amir Dor of Israel in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. Earlier on Tuesday, Kaushik, creating a major upset, defeated third seed Palash Tiwari in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

The result of other quarter-final matches held in both the boys’ and the girls’ section on Wednesday are: Boys singles: Filip Lewicki (Pol) beat Gema Gamazov (Isr) 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, Kaushik Das (Ind) beat Amir Dor (Isr) 6-3,6-4, Gleb Sklyr (Isr) beat Jugal Marfatia (Ind) 6-4,6-3, and Adil Hakeem (Aus) beat Amir Zari (Isr) 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. girls singles : Angelika Aliev (Isr) beat Ofir Morag (Isr) 6-2, 6-1, Sevil Alieva (Aze) beat Olga Blank (Isr) 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, Nilaya Tarimal (Ind) beat Treta Bhattacharya (Ind) 7-6, 3-6, 6-2 and Rashmi Teltumbde (India) beat Valentina Starkova 6-7, 7-6, 6-4.
