Diarrhoea in Dima Hasao still continues

Diarrhoea-epidemic which claimed nine lives including four children in the villages of Wajao, Hajadisa and Diger constituencies of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council under Maibang Civil Sub-Division borderin Assam- Nagaland from June 5th last spreading rapidly in the nearby villages like Kotaibari-I, Dimakro, Khepre II, Tongibra, Tongikro etc.


On Thursday, The Chief Executive Member, Sri Debojeet Thaosen and Executive Member, in charge Medical, Sri Bokul Bodo of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council visited the Khepre area to take the stock of the situation. Following the wide-spread of the epidemic, a medical team comprising two doctors from Haflong rushed to the area. All the patients are being brought to Khepre M E School, where a temporary camp for the treatment has been setup. As most of the villages are situated in remote areas, people are suffering a lot for the poor communication. They alleged they are not being provided even with ambulance services. Some time they suffer for inadequate medicines also.


The pharmacist of the Khepre Bazar Sub-Centre Israfil Mustaque Ahmed,who is here for one year disclosed that the water is the main cause of the Diarrhoea-epidemic, since the entire area though established long long ago but still deprived of proper water supply.
