Heavy presence of security forces seems to have proved a futile effort to ensure safety and security of the people. Valuable properties worth Rs 5 lakh was looted from the Ganesh temple by thieves in Dispur on Wednesday. The incident took place in the mid night when it was raining outside. The thieves barged into the temple breaking the shutters and looted gold and silver which kept inside the almirahs. The thieves also stole an umbrella installed with the idol.
The incident came to light on Thursday morning and the temple and committee and devotees called it an utter failure of the government to ensure safety of life and properties even in Dispur. Dispur police have already registered a case.

North Eastern Frontier Railway on Saturday announced a special train from Dibrugarh in to Yesvantpur to ferry the students of the north eastern region and north Bengal to appear for medical and engineering entrance tests in Bangalore.
According to NF Railway, the special train will ply on May 1 and it will leave Yesvantpur on May 4. The return 02509 special train will leave on May 7 and reach Dibrugarh on May 10. Two people died and two others were injured in a road mishaps in Jorhat district on Friday night.A woman was killed while her husband and two kids were injured in an accident at Panisoku near Pulibor in Jorhat district on Friday night. The incident took place at NH-37, when a Tata Indica car, in which the family was travelling, was hit by a trailer truck. The deceased woman was identified as Pompy Borthakur. At least two people were killed and 25 others were injured in a road mishap in Barpeta district on Wednesday midnight.
The incident took place at Garhchuk near Bajali when a wedding bus skidded off the National Highway. The bus on the way to Simala-Bajai Bhethua, when the driver of the vehicle lost control and fell off the highway. The deceased duo were identified as Irak Bodo and Shukra Barman, died on the spot and 25 others were injured. The injured people were rushed to the hospital.
