Rail communication yet to restore between Lower Haflong and Badarpur

The Rail communication between Lower Haflong and Badarpur, Hill section of N F Railway which was disrupted from June 3 last due to heavy landslide along with shrinkage between Mailongdisa and Harangajao caused by continuous rain on Saturday night is yet to be restored.


A stretch of 150 mts of railway track at 133 Km is totally washed away. Hundreds of railway workers are working round the clock to restore the rail communication as early as possible but the hostile environment some times stands on the way.


Senior Railway Officials like Assistant Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), Sr Divisional Engineer from Lumding have been supervising the restoration work. Lumding-LowerHaflong- Badarpur, Hill section is the life line not only for the Dima Hasao but also for the neighboring state like Tripura, Manipur and entire Barak Valley.


Mention may be made here that during the year 2010 also there was heavy landslide measuring a stretch of 300 mts at the same place.


The railway workers, who are working for the restoration of the rail communication, alleged they are not being provided with proper fooding and medication even though they are working.
While talking to this correspondent Sri Satish Kothari, Assistant Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) N F Railway disclosed that some time on Friday the rail communication would be restored and at first only goods would be allowed to run there after passenger train.
