Goalpara AASU stage sit in Demonstration
The Goalpara district unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) today staged a two-hour sit-in demonstration at Dudhnoi in Goalpara district demanding the immediate release of the two abducted teachers and to ensure the security of life and property of general people. Several activists of the student body, led by Goalpara district president Gopal Krishna Das, and Goalpara district Rabha Students Union Prafulla Rongkha took part in the protest demonstration. While talking to this correspondent Goalpara district AASU president Gopal Krishna Das said "we warned the government that if the administration is unable to protect the life and property of the indigenous people of the district, then should declare that openly." He also alleged that the government has failed to ensure the security of the indigenous people of Goalpara district. "We will launch several democratic agitation programme in the future if the abducted two teachers could not be rescued immediately and if the administration failed to ensure the life and property of the indigenous people of the district" Das warned.
