DHD(J) sought people’s opinion on Dima Hasao Territorial Council

The Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel) has sought suggestions and opinions on proposed Dima Hasao Territorial Council and its Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) from all section people living in Dima Hasao irrespective of caste, creed and religion.


In this connection a well attended meeting was held at Cultural Institute Hall on Sunday with David Dimasa, Home Secretary, DHD(J) in the chair. The meting was attended by Niranjan Hojai, C-n-C, Danilel Dimasa, Deputy C-n-C, DHD(J) Dethang Naiding, President, Jadikhe Naiso Hosom, (JNH), L. K. Nunisa, Secretary, JNH, Kebaron Naiding, President, Dimasa Students’ Union(DSU), Ms Deepali Haphila, President, Dimasa Mothers’ Association S. Changsa, Gaon Bura, Khungsai Village, K. Jeme, Secretary, Lodi Village, Palon
Warisa, Senior citizen, Bahim Ch. Langthasa, Former President of JNH and several representatives from different communities living in the district.


Dethang Nading who was a part of peace talks in between Governments and DHD(J) narrated the demands of DHD(J) like up gradation of the existing Autonomous Council and direct funding etc. Naiding said the DHD(J) has surrendered their arms to the government to augment the peace process and for the all round development of Dima Hasao and MoS is almost ready for the final. He also appealed to the DHD(J) organisation to maintain discipline while dealing with others. He further appealed to raise the voice of people unitedly.


S. Changsan speaking on the occasion suggested ‘the Dimasas to play an important role in maintaining brotherly relation among the various communities unitedly since the Dimasas are considered as the big brother of the all the communities living in the district’.


Kebaron Naiding suggested for confidence building practices, people’s consensus and decentralisation since these can play pivotal role in bringing peace and development for the people at large.


Bahim Ch. Langthasa supported Dethang Naiding and expressed his satisfaction over the attitude of the DHD(J) for holding such meeting with the aim of seeking people’s opinion.


Niranjan Hojai in his speech said DHD was formed for the development of the Dima Hasao and they have surrendered their arm only because the government assured to solve their problems which included the all round development of the district as well as the people of the district irrespective of caste creed and religion. Hojai appealed to all the organisation to shun violence and to join mainstream for the development
David Dimasa in his speech appealed all section of the people not to be misled regarding the DHD(J) and to feel free to approach them if any confusion arises in regards to the DHD(J).


All most all the speakers appreciated the efforts of the DHD(J) for the initiatives taken by the organisation for the all round development of the Dima Hasao district.


Earlier, Daniel Dimasa explained the aims and objective of the meeting and sought people opinion and suggestion while disclosing the development of the peace process.

In its continuing effort to increase people – Army interaction and promote co-ordination and cooperation between different tribes of Hajadisa area of Dima Hasao district an Inter village Football Tournament is being organised by the troops of MADRAS Regiment from April 12, 2013.The tournament commenced by kicking of football by village headman at Bara Digar Football Ground.  This five days tournament has drawn enthusiastic response from the public.  A total of 16 teams are participating in the event.  The motive of the tournament is to increase peace and harmony in the region. Acting on a tip off, the police and 25 Assam riffles apprehended one Songbambe Kuame @ Nimpeu son of Nailung Kuame aged 19 years a resident of Kelelo village under Haflong Police Station along with one 9 mm auto pistol, one magazine and 3 live rounds at about 1.30 pm on Monday from Kelelo village, some 12 km from Haflong.It is learnt that he has confessed to be self style Sgt, 3rd Bn of NNC, FGN (Federal Government of Nagalim) and has come for tax collection.Later, Songbambe Kuame was handed over to Haflong police station along with recovery  and a case was also registered.
In a joint operation by Police and 25 Assam Riffle huge caches of arms and ammunition was recovered 150 mt from railway track near Nutan Basti, Haflong at about 7 pm on Saturday.
