Top Maoist leader in NIA remand

National Investigation Agency got remand of Maoist leader Indranil Chandra, alias Ajay Das for seven days after he was produced before a special court in Guwahati on Wednesday.
Chandra, who heads Maoist offensive in Assam, was brought to Guwahati from Kolkata where he was recently arrested. He was produced in a NIA designated court in Guwahati and remanded to seven days of NIA custody. Chandra, hailing from Burdwan district of West Bengal, had visited the state several times to coordinate with the local Maoist cadres. He had visited several areas in the state, including lower Assam, and held several meetings.
