Mass rally to mark 125 years celebration of Golaghat Govt. Bezbaruah Higher Secondary School
To mark the 125 years’ glorious existence of the Golaghat Govt. Bezbaruah Higher Secondary School (GGBHSS) the school is going to organize a Quasquicentennial jubilee. The school was established by Gobinda Chandra Bezbaruah in 1886, the elder brother of Rashraj Lakhminath Bezabaruah, with only 18 students and since then the school, has been igniting generation and generations of young minds with the light of knowledge to take up the challenges for the cause of a better tomorrow. As the first event of the 125 Years’ Jubilee Celebration, the school today organised a mass rally with a daylong programme. The day started with the registration of alumnis where some eight hundred alumnis registered their names followed by the addresses of the principal Biman Goswami and some eminent personalities of the town.
A nostalgic scene was witnessed when many veteran alumnis including 92 years old Mahendra Bora turned up for registering their names. An interactive session was also held between the alumnis of the school. A website of the school (http://www.golaghatgbhss.com), designed by two alumnis of the school Madhurjya Saikia and Aditya Rajkhow, was also launched on the occasion and inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Sanjib Gohain Baruah. The mass rally was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner, where nearly 3000 people participated including present and former students of the school, students from various educational institutes of the town and noted citizens participated. The day long programme ended with a friendly football match between the present and former students of the school.
