Silver jubilee inauguration celebration of Raha Adarsh Sishu Vikash Kendra
Raha Adarsh Sishu Vikash Kendra, a pioneer private educational institution of Raha, situated in the heart of Raha town is going to celebrate its ‘Silver Jubilee Year‘ throughout 2012-2013. The school which started functioning from February 10,1988 stepped into its 25 th year this February, the Head Mistress of the school Poli Deka said to the Assam Times. In these 25 years , thousands of students from across Raha got educated from this institution and are serving the society and nation penetrating every layer of the society.
The inauguration programme of the Silver Jubilee celebration will begin with the hoisting of flag at 8 am by Loknath Knowar, president of the celebration committee, followed by Vanti Prajyalan by Gunemai Gogoi, founder and former headmistress of the school. ‘ Smriti Tarpan will be performed 9 am by Kamal Chandra Sharma, ex-principal of Raha H.S .School and executive president of the Silver Jubilee celebration committee followed by a harmony of music show ‘ Samalay’ directed by Harendra Nath Bora. An informal talk programme of the parents and students of the school will also held at 10.30 a.m. It will be carried on by Rajashree Bora Hazarika, Professor, Modern Indian Languages, Raha college.
The open meeting will be held at 1 pm. It will be presided over by Loknath Konwar,president , Silver Jubilee celebration committee. Dr Anjanjyoti Choudhori, will inaugurate the meeting where Piyush Hazarika , MLA , Raha will attend as chief guest. It will be followed by a felicitation programme at 2 pm. A cultural programme by the students of the school will also be held from 3 pm onwards.
Poli Deka, Headmistress of the school and the silver jubilee celebration committee has appealed to all the present and past students along with their parents , the local residents, well-wishers to extend their valuable co-operation in all the programmes and to attend the Silver Jubilee Inauguration celebration.

The people of Raha have strongly demanded the higher authority of the State Bank of India ( SBI ) for providing adequate facility to the customers of its Raha branch.
The people alleged,that the customers of the bank were permanently facing various transaction-related problems.
There is no parking place for two- wheelers , four- wheelers and even bicycles. An assistant teacher named, Nepal Sarmah of Haiborgaon Adarsha Vidyalaya was suspended recently by an order by the Inspector of Schools, Nagaon district. According to the information, the assistant teacher, few days back, assulted the headmaster of the school for some personal grudge, that has been strongly condemned by the teaching staff and employees besides the students of the school.

5 persons were killed in a tragic road accident when the Indigo car they were travelling hit with a concreate wall by the NH -37 , at Phulaguri under Raha Police station. UDPF ( United Democratic Peoples' Front ) has called 36 hour Assam bandh from 5 am on December 14 to 5 pm on December 15 demanding a separate state for the people of Bodo community.
In an official order issued by the Superintendent of Police ( S P ) Nagaon district, Nitul Gogoi suspended seven police personnels on November 27 due to the negligence of duty entrusted upon them. According to information, the suspended police personnels were Purnakanta Bora, Safiqur Rahman, Padmadhor Nath, Giyasuddin, Prafulla Deka, Bhupen Saikia, and Brichitra Bora. It is known that they were engaged to the security of State Bank of India Lumding branch and United Bank respectively.
The down-to-dusk Assam bandh called by the banned United Liberation
Front of Asom (ULFA) passed of peacefully in Nagaon district. The
bandh was called in protest against the arrest of two of its top
leaders, Sasha Choudhury and Chitraban Hajarika.
The 12 - hour bandh paralysed the normal life in and around Nagaon.
Shops and business establishments,educational and financial
institutions and govt. and central government offices including post
offices and the BSNL offices remained closed. Except few private
vehicles and rickshaws, vehicular traffic remained off the road. No
untoward incident was reported from any part of the district.
Popularly known as blood painter amongst the natives, Gautam Bardhan who has been drawing 97 sketches and pictures till date by using own blood on different occasions was awarded prestigious 'Avantika Rastriya Sadbhawana Samman at Hindi Bhawan, Bishnu Digambar Marg, Delhi on October 9, 2009. The award was presented to him by the 'Avantika' a group of contemporary artists and intellectuals, in a function in presence of President of India, Padmashree G P Chopra, Kapil Sibal, Union Minister of Human Resources, and many other dignitaries. The 10 hrs Nagaon bandh called by Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Parishad, Nagaon unit on October 19 against the rising prices of essential commodities received the full support from all section of people of Nagaon.
Many government offices, Banks, Central govt. Offices, educational institutions remained completely closed. Business establishment were also seen closed . No incident relating to violence was reported in any part of the district during bandh hours.
