16.23% success at TET

The result of the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) examination, held on January 10, is declared on Wednesday. Out of total 3,24,793 candidates appeared in the examination, 52,722 has succeeded. The examination was conducted for both lower primary and upper primary


Bornali Deka of Nalbari, Piklu Acharjya of Jorhat and Ranjit Chetri of Bokakhat with 132 marks ranked top in primary level. Chandan Das of Diboi has achieved top position in general science with 126 marks and Simi Changmai of Dibrugarh is selected as topper in Social study papers with 125 marks for upper primary level candidates.

Me-dam-me-phi, the auspicious festival of Tai-Ahom community is celebrated at several places in Sivasagar district on Tuesday. Nazira wins in state level Prize money cricket tournament

The A.D. Das cricket team of Nazira wins the Surojmall Sahawalla and Tulsi Jalan Memorial All Assam Prize Money cricket tournament organised by Kola Kristi Sangha at Borsila play ground of Amguri. They beat Pragoti club of Jorhat with a margin of 16 runs. Their opponent earned 96 runs. The Man of the Match title and Man of the series are awarded to Manuj Sarma of Pragoti Club Jorhat and Kaku of Nazira team respectively.

Upen Konwer, Central Commitee member and Vice-Presiden of Charaidew district of AGP has passed on Sunday at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. He was 52 years. Mother and son died on spot in stone quarry mishap

On yesterday evening, at Laxmijan stone quarry under Nazira police station of Sivasagar district, Urmila Khatun (29) and her three years son Mejajin Ali died on spot in a stone quarry mishap under 6no quarry of his Mahadev Kurmi is the contractor. The accident occurred due to the falling of heap of stone on the workers. The seriously injured husband Giasuddin Ali and elder son Giasuddin Ahmed admitted at hospital. The ill-fated family was from Mayong-Balimukh gaon of Morigaon district, Assam.
