Silpi Divas organised at Simoluguri
Like the other parts our state, the Silpi Divas, in memory of Death day of Rupkonwer Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla, also organised at Simoluguri of Sivasagar district on Tuesday. The day long programme is organised by NGO Udiyomaan and Simoluguri unit of Assam Sahitya Sabha.
On this occasion, fine-art and Jyoti sangeet competition is held among the students. In the open session a discussion, “ The ideal of Jyotiprasad among new generation” is held. Which is inaugurated by Juga Gogoi, the secretary of Sivasagar district Sahitya Sabha. In which, Md. Mohsin, retired lecturer of Nandanath Saikia merorial college, Titabor, Debobrata Saikia, MLA, Nazira and Durlov Buragohain, Principal, Siu-Ka-Pha Academy present as asserted speaker and special guests respectively. Umanath Sarma, Ex. Lecturer of Gorgaon college presided the discussion.

Me-dam-me-phi, the auspicious festival of Tai-Ahom community is celebrated at several places in Sivasagar district on Tuesday. It is celebrated at the historical Talatal Ghar by the historical monuments preservation committee, at Shiva Dol by Ahom Raj Chora and at Gorgaon Palace by ATASU. The All Tai Yuba Chatra Parishad observed Me-dam-me-phi at Lai-Thepena Maidam, Amguri.

The A.D. Das cricket team of Nazira wins the Surojmall Sahawalla and Tulsi Jalan Memorial All Assam Prize Money cricket tournament organised by Kola Kristi Sangha at Borsila play ground of Amguri. They beat Pragoti club of Jorhat with a margin of 16 runs. Their opponent earned 96 runs.

Upen Konwer, Central Commitee member and Vice-Presiden of Charaidew district of AGP has passed on Sunday at Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. He was 52 years. He is remembered for his dedication in the historical Assam agitation and AGP party. He was from Angera Konwer gaon of Charaidew.

On yesterday evening, at Laxmijan stone quarry under Nazira police station of Sivasagar district, Urmila Khatun (29) and her three years son Mejajin Ali died on spot in a stone quarry mishap under 6no quarry of his Mahadev Kurmi is the contractor. The accident occurred due to the falling of heap of stone on the workers. The seriously injured husband Giasuddin Ali and elder son Giasuddin Ahmed admitted at hospital.
