Bhugali or Magh Bihu is celebrated with full-festivity in the historical Sivasagar district of Assam. After the Uruka, the Bhugali mela are organised in different parts of the district. In these programmes, the traditional sports and games like buffalo fight, Coke-fight, traditional boat racing, the making of traditional Assamese recipes are held. In some parts cultural programmes are also organised.
The Tai-Ahom Yuba Chatra Parishad has organised Bhugali mela in the historical Ronghar, which is inaugurated by the speaker of the Assam Assembly Mr. Pranab Gogoi. In this programme, the buffalo fight, the coke-fight and exhibition of ethnic culture are exhibited.
Like the previous years traditional boat racing competition is held at upper-Nazira Koibotra gaon. The buffalo fights are also organised in historical Rupohi pathar,Sivasagar, Kopohua gaon,Nazira and Borkola of Gorgaon.
In some places these programmes will be continue for one week.
