Maghi Utsav is being organized at Bahgarh, Simoluguri

The Bahgarh branch of All Tai Ahom Student Union has organized Maghi Utsav January 17 at historically importance, Bahgarh of DhupaborMauza of Simoluguri, Sivasagar. On that occasion the traditional games and sport like Buffalo-fight, Cock-fight etc will be held. The Buffalo-fight is be inaugurated by noted theatre artist PranabjyotiDutta and the Cock-fight will be inaugurated by ManashHandique, the President of Nazira Sub-Division of ATASU. The MLA of Nazira, Mr. DebobrataSaikia will attend as guest of honour. Cultural function will also being organized in the evening which will be inaugurated by Lalit Borah, Staff reporter of Amar Asom, news paper. A reception committee is already formed with HemantaSaikia as president and BipulBoruah as Secretary for this purpose.

Outgoing Assam Asset ONGC Executive Director, Bimal Kumar Barua Tuesday hosted some 200 media persons at the Officer's Club at Nazira to brief the achievements of Assam Asset during his tenure. Dillibari Gaon Panchayat, under Tingkhong development block has laid the foundation stone of gravel road in the Amarjyoti Arandhara, the secretary general of Tai Ahom National Council on Monday at Ghahi Pathar, under MNREGA scheme. The total length of the road will be 6.5 kilometer and it will cost about 4 lakh. The Tai Ahom National Council demands demand one seat in the up coming Rajya Sabha election from Assam. The second biennial conference of Me-Nang-Rai will be held on May 9-10 at Tai Cultural Development Centre, Tingrai, Tinsukia district. The organisation was established at " Kodomkakoi" of Lakhimpur district on May 9, 2010 in presence of central members of All Assam Poi-Phuralung for betterment of the Tai-Ahom women.
One Babul Gogoi (12) died in a mishap at Santak-Gorchuk, Simoluguri on Saturday. The mishap occured when the deceased was collecting money for a Bihu Sonmilon, organised locally at Kenduguri. The boy with his friends was collecting of money from vehicles plying on the Romoni Ali, which connects Simoluguri and Naginimora. When they tried to stop a dumper coming towards Simoluguri who refused to stop and the members tried to stop the vehicle forcefully. According to eye witness, the deceased climbed up on the vehicle to stop it. After runing few distance the vehicle slipped away from the road and the deceased came under the Vehicle and died on the spot.
Tai Ahom Development Council, in association with Siu-Ka-Pha Tai Cultural Centre of Bokota is running a 15-days workshop at Purbojyoti Club of Bokota-Parijat of Sivasagar district from February 19 to March 3. about 35 students from Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat and Sivasagar district are joining the workshop. Foundation stone of anti-erosion protection scheme at Dikhow river, near Achala Pathar-Dihingia Gaon, was laid down by Rajib Luson Pegu, Water Resource Minister of Assam. The total estimate for this scheme is Rs.6.80 crore. According to the technical specification, 500 meters dyke with modern geo-tube technology and 1300 meters embankment will be constructed under this scheme.
