Pang-Sau-Pass Winter Festival 2012 on January 21-23


The Pang-Sau-Pass Winter festival is a three days extravaganza of folk songs and dances, ethenic food feasts, traditional sports, expeditions, sightseeing, eco-trekking, angling, boating on the Rima river and general Burmese culture, to visit the war cemetery of World War II and the Border Trade Centre will be held from January 21 to January 23.


Nampong, the venue of the Pang-Sau-Pass Winter festival EAC Headquarter of Changlang District situated in the South-Eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh is a small hilly town in the Indo-Myanmar border and Namchik basin, it sis covered with evergreen rain forest. The Venue has been designed as a global village as it conjoins the diverse tribes of the North Eastern region of India and of Myanmer to display their customs and cultures in a broader perspective. The cultural carnival has cut across social barriers inspiring the secluded regions to celebrate the sense of distinctive individual ethnic identity which strongly bonds all these culturally religiously diverse tribes.


Along with the festival there are other things of tourist attraction. The historical Stillwell road of II World War, being the gateway of trade for North East India, driving down the serpentine Stillwell road magnifies the excitement manifold. During the Festival the visitors are allowed to see the Pang-Sau-Pass and visit the “Lake of No Return in Myanmar side.

The 63rd republic day is celebrated at Nazira by the administration and the Assam Asset, ONGC. In Assam Asset ONGC, the Executive director of Assam Asset, Bikash Kumar Barua hoisted the national flag and salutes the march past . Like past years, the Nazira civil administration organised the republic day parade at Gandhi Maiden. Pradip Kumar Das, SDO, civil has hoisted the flag and receives the salutes of parades. The result of the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) examination, held on January 10, is declared on Wednesday. Out of total 3,24,793 candidates appeared in the examination, 52,722 has succeeded. The examination was conducted for both lower primary and upper primary Bornali Deka of Nalbari, Piklu Acharjya of Jorhat and Ranjit Chetri of Bokakhat with 132 marks ranked top in primary level. Chandan Das of Diboi has achieved top position in general science with 126 marks and Simi Changmai of Dibrugarh is selected as topper in Social study papers with 125 marks for upper primary level candidates.
Emon Chetia Phukon of Sepon,a student of Class VI at Delhi Public school, Guwahati, wins third position in the national level fine-arts competition held at Delhi on January 21. The competition was organised jointly by Ministry of Water and Ministry of Soil Conservation. Students from 19 states participated in this competition. The theme was “Rule of students in water conservation”. The participants from Tamil Nadu and West Bengal achieved the first and second position respectively.
