The Electronic Media Forum of Assam (EMFA) invites entries for the annual EMFA Awards 2011. The forum has decided to confer awards in more than ten categories including best reporting on socio-political theme, development, environment, economic issues of northeast India. The reports should be telecast on or before 31st December 2011. The entry (comprising the name of the reporter and the camera person) should be sent to the office of EMFA, C/o Guwahati Press Club, Guwahati-781001 by January 20. The award function will be organized in the first half of February 2011.

Meanwhile, a delegation of EMFA met the State chief minister Tarun Gogoi on December 10 at his official residence and invited him for the award function, which he had accepted happily. The delegation also briefed the chief minister about various problems faced by the television journalists and non-journalist employees. They also demanded a cumulative fund for the benefit of media persons in Assam. The chief minister instantly agreed to the demand and proposed for a corpus fund where the proprietors, media persons and the government can contribute.

The chief minister also assured the necessary help and co-operation to the EMFA (and Guwahati Press Club) to have a plot of land in the prime location of the city for building a modern campus of media persons. The new media campus is understood to include an ultra-modern media centre, auditorium with V Set facility, recreation room, guest house etc.
