Silver jubilee celebration of Kalaigaon College begins


The silver jubilee celebration of Kalaigaon College has begun on October 28 at Kalaigaon and will continue till October 30.Hoisting of college flag by Arabinda Das,Principal,Kalaigaon College and silver jubilee flag by Maheswar Boro (ex-MLA),Chairman of Kalaigaon College GB marked the beginning of the celebration at 8 AM on October 28.Other 25 flags were also hoisted at the same time indicating the completion of glorious 25 years of Kalaigaon College.Dandi Kumar Boro,inaugurated the 'Swahid Bedi' at 8.30 AM followed by inauguration of college main gate by Maheswar Boro at 9.00 AM. It needs mention that Boro had donated the necessary amount for the construction of the college main gate. Lwmsraw Daimari,EM,BTC, inaugurated the new 'Silver Jubilee College building' at 9.30 AM. Speaking on the occasion Daimari expressed hope that Kalaigaon College would be able to achieve its goal to be a leading college in the state. Plantation of trees was another important programme of the day.Four noted social workers of Kalaigaon,namely-Mahendra Saikia,Rajat Kalita, Kali Ram Basumatari,Tapeswar Deka and Shariruddin Ahmed planted a tree each in the college campus.


A three day's book fair cum exhibition was also arranged on the occasion which was inaugurated by noted writer Thaneswar Malakar,Deputy Commissioner, Udalguri at 11.30 AM. Malakar thanked organizers for organizing the book fair and exhibition along with the silver jubilee celebration. He requested students to make a habit of reading good books.Lwmsraw Daimari, EM,BTC; Dandi Ram Rabha, MCLA,BTC;Maheswar Boro, Chairman of the silver jubilee celebration committee also attemded the book fair inaugural ceremony. Noted scholar,writer and poet Idris Ali released the souvenir “Abhigyan” at 1 PM. Alumni convocation was inaugurated at 2 PM.Bodo scholar Dhireswar Bodo Narzi inaugurated the first day's cultural programme at 7 PM.
