The Auxiliary Nurse- Midwife (ANM) and Lady Health Supervisor (LHS) of Karbi Anglong district have started an indefinite cease work agitation from Monday in Karbi Anglong. As a mark of this agitation, in Howraghat Block Primary Health Centre, too, indefinite cease work movement has been initiated by the Howraghat Block PHC ANMs and LHSs and they have been refraining from their duties from Monday.
It is interesting that though innovative round the clock development have been making hue and cry to rooftop in health sector by the State Minister of health , Hemanta Biswa Sharma in the State, on the other hand, it is focused adversely in the hill district Karbi Anglong.
According to report, salaries and arrears payment of ANMS, LHS and employees of the Health and Family Planning department of Karbi Anglong district have been not been released for past six months. In regard of the pending salary and arrear, application was submitted by the All Assam ANM and LHS Service Association, Karbi Anglong district unit to apprise their demands to the Assam HAD Minister Kharsing Engti, Biren Sing Engti, MP and Joy Ram Engleng, CEM, KAAC respectively regarding the same. But no attention has been given to resolve their demands, the service unit admitted. Even they turned deaf ear to their demands the service said with grieved.
Meanwhile, the Karbi Anglong service unit threatened to continue the cease work programme till their demands are not fulfilled and warned of bringing their works to a grinding halt from Monday for indefinite till their demands are not fulfilled.
It may be mentioned here that from the point of view it is clear that the patients of the hill district will have to suffer unexpected inconvenience due to the agitation of the All Assam ANMs and LHSs Service Association of Karbi Anglong district unit.
